CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It was a beautiful night for baseball at BB&T Ballpark Tuesday night, as the Charlotte Knights took on the Gwinnett Braves.
Shawn Hill started on the mound for the Knights and he was very effective with his off-speed delivery throughout the game, only allowing one run through six innings. He finished the game with five strikeouts including a second inning that saw him strike out the side.
The Knights’ 3-4-5 batters hit well all night against the Braves pitching staff. DH Avisail Garcia went 3 for 4 with a homer and two singles. Clean-up batter Jordan Danks went 2-4 with a 2-run homer in the third that put the Knights up 3-0.
The fourth inning was a monster inning for Charlotte as they put up six runs to take a commanding 7-0 lead over the Braves. Two wild pitches from two separate Braves relievers helped give the Knights the big lead.
Catcher Josh Phegley also had a big game going 3 for 4 with two doubles, including a two-run double in the sixth to put the game out of reach at 10-1.
The game ended with a score of 10-1, giving the Knights their 54th win this season. Charlotte is off tomorrow before they start a four game home stand against Pawtucket on Thursday.
